What baptism is

Baptism is the public step that follows saying yes to Jesus. Going under the water and coming back up pictures what has already happened inside you: the old life buried with Christ, and a new life raised with Him. It does not save you — Jesus did that — it declares, in front of your church family, that you belong to Him.

At Lineage we baptize believers by immersion, the way the first followers of Jesus were baptized. If you have surrendered your life to Jesus and have not yet been baptized as a believer, this step is for you.

Before baptism day

• You have said yes to Jesus and want to follow Him.
• You have attended Life 101, or you are signed up for it. Life 101 is where we walk through the foundation of the faith together, and it comes before baptism.
