Living Hope gathered as a community to process the events surrounding the Ferguson case. Pastor
Benjamin shared about the need for unity and understanding during this difficult time and the floor was opened for members of the community to share their thoughts, feelings, and perspectives.
I listened to this again. The first time it was humbling. This time, it was a bit heart breaking. I feel like there is so much shame and embarrassment around the legacy of this country (we all experience it). We struggle between seeing it as the greatest country in the history of this world, but simultaneously seeing it as a country that has committed many atrocities against many people. Why is that important? Because we as people are God’s greatest creation (Gen 1:27), but we also fall short on most every occasion (Rom 3:23). This Ferguson situation is playing out our very humanity. And humanity needs redemption.
