Kent Turner is Living Hope’s Pastor of Formation and a member of the Board of Trustees. His heart’s desire is to witness and facilitate growth in every aspect of life that people may experience the fullness of God’s love.

In our commitment to the LHCC families and local community, the Children and Youth Ministries will dedicate the month of August to focus on education. History has shown that education is the vehicle that leads to a better future. Our goal is that ALL LHCC children and youth are on a course to college.

We desire to partner with and empower students and their parents to create pathways for success. Each pathway will be different, but the destination is the same . . . a college education. A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.

On Saturday, August 2, 2014 LHCC will host its first Education Explosion.

This event kicks off a month-long focus on helping local students set goals for the upcoming academic year and beyond.

This FREE event includes lunch, workshops and access to a variety of resources. Workshops for students in grades 1-12 will highlight the importance of a college education, study and organizational skills and personal discipline.

Parent workshops will discuss tools and methods to prepare yourself and your children for educational success.

The conference ends with a career expo designed to expose students to a wide array of career options. This is a fantastic opportunity to benefit from the wealth within the house and set in motion God’s plan for an abundant life!

Here are some highlights of the day’s activities:

  • Registration: 8:30 – 9:00 am
  • General Session/Guest Speaker: 9:00 – 10:00
  • Student and Parent Workshops: 10:00 – 12:00

Our desire is that the 2014 Education Explosion becomes the platform for new beginnings and a commitment to life-long learning. We look forward to hearing and celebrating the testimonies God builds as a result of this effort!

Sincerely,

Kent Turner
